Lesson 11: Institutions

As with past weeks, you will use the blog post to present and explain an analysis in Arctic Governance. Choose two institutions either from the Hough book’s index or the Arctic Policy Compendium. In a paragraph each, give a summary of the institution (who is bound by it, what it is meant to achieve, etc). We are using these summaries to think of what it means to govern in the Arctic. Your institutions could relate to reindeer herding, borders, fisheries in the Barents Sea, or others.

RELATIONSHIP TO NEXT WEEK’S LESSON 12: Next week you will discuss whether the Arctic needs an Arctic-wide agreement akin to the Antarctic Treaty system. While your work for this week, Lesson 11, may help you think about that question, please hold off on discussing that topic until next week.
